Twin County Regional Healthcare (TCRH), part of Duke LifePoint Healthcare, today announced that its chief nursing officer (CNO) William “Bill” Alley has been promoted to chief executive officer (CEO) effective June 23. Alley replaces Sudandra Ratnasamy who is departing for another leadership opportunity within the Duke LifePoint system, and a search for Alley’s replacement as CNO is underway.
“Bill has been an invaluable leader and team member since joining our organization more than a decade ago,” said Elmer Polite, eastern division president of Lifepoint Health, of which TCRH is a part. “His proven track record in quality and performance improvement combined with experience in strategic planning and operations management make him a natural fit for CEO and the right choice to lead Twin County Regional Healthcare into the future. We are excited to support his continued growth within the hospital and at Duke LifePoint.”
A former U.S. Army Captain and registered nurse, Alley previously served as the hospital’s director of surgical services before moving into the CNO role five years ago. Prior to joining TCRH, he served in various clinical and nursing roles at hospitals and outpatient centers in North Carolina. In addition to his military service, Alley earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a Master of Healthcare Administration from Ohio University in Athens, OH.
“Since joining Twin County eleven years ago, I have been proud to be a part of the hospital’s continued growth, improving access to services, enhancing patient safety and quality and being a good community partner,” said Alley. “As we look to the future, I am honored to serve as CEO and continue our positive momentum of making communities healthier for Galax, Grayson and Carroll Counties and the surrounding region.”
