LifePoint Health Signs Real Estate Agreement with Medical Properties Trust
November 05, 2019LifePoint Health®, a leading healthcare company dedicated to Making Communities Healthier®, today announced that it has signed an agreement with Medical Properties Trust, Inc. (“MPT”) (NYSE:MPW) for a sale-leaseback transaction in which it will transfer ownership of the real estate of 10 acute care hospitals in six of its markets to MPT. The aggregate purchase price of the transaction is $700 million.

Shugart has been serving as interim CEO of KershawHealth since April, following the departure of the hospital’s former CEO Terry Gunn. Both facilities are part of LifePoint Health and are located in Columbia, South Carolina, and Camden, South Carolina, respectively. Gunn has been serving in an interim leadership role at Providence Health since April after replacing former interim leader Steve Selzer.
