Lifepoint Rehabilitation celebrates 51 facilities and units named to Newsweek’s list of America’s Best Physical Rehabilitation Centers 2026
This week, Lifepoint Rehabilitation, a business unit of Lifepoint Health, recognized 32 inpatient rehabilitation facilities (IRFs) and 19 of its contracted acute rehabilitation units awarded on Newsweek’s list of America’s Best Physical Rehabilitation Centers 2026. This prestigious award is presented by Newsweek and Statista Inc., the leading statistics portal and industry ranking provider. The award list was announced on August 27th, 2026, and can be viewed on Newsweek’s website.
The America’s Best Physical Rehabilitation Centers 2026 ranking awards the leading physical rehabilitation facilities in the U.S. The 25 states with the most facilities according to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) were ranked individually. The facilities from the remaining states were grouped into 4 regions: Northeast, Midwest, West, and South. The list is based on four data pillars:
- Quality Metrics: Data for IRFs published by the U.S. Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
- Reputation Survey: An online survey among experts with knowledge of physical rehabilitation centers (physicians, physiotherapists, doctors, clinic managers and other health care professionals) was conducted in cooperation with Newsweek.
- Quality Designations: Data on physical rehabilitation centers provided by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and the Model Systems Knowledge Translation Center (MSKTC).
- Google Reviews: Reviews from Google were included as a proxy for patient satisfaction.
Based on the study results, Lifepoint Rehabilitation is honored to be recognized on Newsweek’s list of America’s Best Physical Rehabilitation Centers 2026.
Statista publishes hundreds of worldwide industry rankings and company listings with high-profile media partners. This research and analysis service is based on the success of statista.com, the leading data and business intelligence portal that provides statistics, relevant business data, and various market and consumer studies and surveys.
The 32 freestanding inpatient rehabilitation facilities are part of 55 joint venture partnerships with regional health systems across the country. In each, Lifepoint Rehabilitation supports the day-to-day operations and delivery of rehabilitation care. The company also provides contract management support to acute rehabilitation units, operating more than 250 such units within hospitals and other therapy settings nationwide. Against this backdrop of clinical excellence, Lifepoint Rehabilitation continues to expand its presence across the country. The company has opened five new rehabilitation hospitals so far this year, including one wholly owned facility and four facilities with new joint venture partners. A sixth facility is expected to open in October. Looking ahead, Lifepoint Rehabilitation plans to open six new rehabilitation hospitals in 2027, reflecting continued momentum in expanding access to high-quality rehabilitation care.

These facilities include Atlantic Rehabilitation Institute in the Northeast Region, Baptist Memorial Rehabilitation Hospital in Tennessee, Community Health Rehabilitation Hospital North in Indiana, Dignity Health East Valley Rehabilitation Hospital – Chandler in Arizona, Lancaster Rehabilitation Hospital in Pennsylvania, Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital Oklahoma City in Oklahoma, Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital St. Louis in Missouri, UW Health Rehabilitation Hospital in Wisconsin, and Virginia Mason Franciscan Health Rehabilitation Hospital in Washington.
