Georgetown is one of Kentucky’s fastest growing cities, located at the crossroads of I-75 and I-64, and just 10 miles north of Lexington, the Horse Capital of the World. Founded by bourbon whiskey inventor Elijah Craig in 1790, the city uniquely blends together the past and the future. Highly regarded for its historic homes and perhaps the best antique shopping in the state, it is also the American home of Toyota’s Camry, Venza and Avalon production facility and plays host to the NFL’s Cincinnati Bengals’ training camp each August at Georgetown College, a four-year liberal arts school. Louisville and Cincinnati provide convenient access to a plethora of arts, entertainment, shopping and professional sports, just an hour's drive away.
Georgetown is in the heart of horse country, its back roads filled with beautiful horse farms and cattle fields and lined with Irish fieldstone fences. Keeneland Race Course, in nearby Lexington, attracts people from around the world for annual meets in April and October; and visitors to Kentucky Horse Park can watch a harness maker at work, enjoy the parade of breeds or take in a horse-drawn carriage tour. Historic Elkhorn Creek offers world-class canoeing and fishing, and dozens of golf courses dot the area.
