Lifepoint Health Honors Terri Clark with 2023 Companywide Mercy Award

Brentwood, Tennessee (August 31, 2023) – Lifepoint Health®, a diversified healthcare delivery network dedicated to making communities healthier, has named Terri Clark from Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital (NNRH) in Elko, Nevada the recipient of its 2023 companywide Mercy Award. Clark, who serves as director of growth and outreach at NNRH, was honored for the tireless compassion she shows to patients and colleagues, and for her continued dedication to serving her community.

Lifepoint’s companywide Mercy Award is given annually to one of more than 50,000 Lifepoint employees who has profoundly touched the lives of others and embodies the spirit and values upon which the company was founded. It was established in 2001 to honor the life and legacy of the late Scott Mercy, Lifepoint’s founding chairman and chief executive officer (CEO), and is the highest honor a Lifepoint employee can receive.

“Terri’s passion for community engagement and desire to serve others is truly admirable,” said David Dill, chairman and CEO of Lifepoint Health. “Her kindness, warmth and compassion make her an extraordinary representative of Scott Mercy’s legacy and a deserving recipient of this distinguished honor.”

During her time at NNRH, Clark has been a remarkable team member and role model. She was a critical part of the hospital’s response to COVID-19 and readily assumed many responsibilities unrelated to the typical duties of her job to help support her colleagues. She frequently volunteered to help the cleaning staff during nights and on the weekends, and showed genuine compassion to patients and their loved ones.

Beyond the hospital’s walls, Clark has made a significant impact on the lives of many people through her community engagement efforts. For example, she worked with local food banks during the height of the pandemic to make sure shortages and shutdowns didn’t affect their supply, and she oversaw the distribution of approximately 185 tons of food to rural northern Nevada communities. Following the darkest days of the pandemic, Clark focused her efforts on healing her community. She organized community-wide celebrations like Heroes Have Heart, which hosted more than 50 local organizations and welcomed over 1,000 community members. She also created a mental health-related, interactive program for fifth and sixth grade students, which has since expanded to include a second school.

But Clark didn’t stop there. She also has helped ensure that the teachers in her community have access to mammography screenings – and this effort ultimately saved the life of someone diagnosed with breast cancer.

“In all my years of working in healthcare, I have never known anyone quite as driven, selfless, resourceful and dedicated as Terri,” said Steve Simpson, CEO of NNRH. “When our staff was exhausted and overwhelmed during the COVID-19 pandemic, Terri found a way to make those tough times a little better. She has positively impacted the lives of countless people in our community, so I am thrilled for her to receive this well-deserved honor.”

Terri was formally recognized during a special awards celebration in Nashville on August 23.
