Elizabeth Jones Named CEO of Southwestern Medical Center

Lawton, Okla. – (April 11, 2019) – Southwestern Medical Center (SWMC), part of LifePoint Health, today announced that Elizabeth Jones has been named chief executive officer (CEO), effective May 6. Jones comes to SWMC from Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital (LCRH), another LifePoint Health facility in Somerset, Kentucky, where she served as chief operating officer (COO). Jones will replace Jerry Dooley, who has been serving as interim CEO.

“A nurse by trade, Elizabeth is a caring and compassionate leader who is deeply committed to keeping patient safety and quality at the forefront,” said Robert Wampler, president of LifePoint Health’s Mountain Division, of which SWMC is a part. “I am confident that her extensive clinical experience and passion for quality and service will be a tremendous asset to SWMC as it continues to advance our mission of Making Communities Healthier.”

Prior to her tenure as COO at LCRH, where she also served as interim CEO, Jones was vice president, operations, for CHI St. Luke’s Health System – Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center in Houston, Texas. Before that, she served in a number of leadership roles, including as director, operations and neuroscience service line, and senior director, perioperative services and neuroscience service line, at Memorial Hermann Healthcare System, also in Houston; healthcare consultant and product manager for Medtronic, Inc.; and manager, neurosurgery operating room, for Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois.

“Elizabeth possesses the key qualities we were looking for in a new leader who could help us continue to enhance the level of care we provide and further our mission of Making Communities Healthier,” said Shawn Anderson, DPh, chairman of the hospital’s board of trustees. “Her operational expertise and ability to foster strategic partnerships and community outreach will have an invaluable impact on both our hospital and the communities we serve.”

Jones holds bachelor degrees in psychology and nursing from Texas A&M University and the University of Texas Health Science Center, respectively, as well as a Master of Business Administration in Operations Management degree from DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois. She is a registered nurse and a certified operating room nurse and a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE).

“I am thrilled to get to know this wonderful community and help continue the excellent work being done at Southwestern Medical Center to care for patients and families,” said Jones. “It is my privilege to join this exceptional team as we continue to seek ways to enhance the delivery of high quality care close to home for those we serve.”
