Sanford keeps residents active with a vast array of recreational options.  Championship golf at five outstanding area golf courses, which include Tobacco Road, the nationally ranked 4th best public course by Golf Digest and 50th best public course in the world by Golf Course Architecture. Sanford’s municipal course is equally appealing with a pine-lined fairway and a water view on the back nine. Expanded greenways allow for bicycling, strolling, jogging or just enjoying the fresh North Carolina air, and the 177-acre San Lee Park and Bicycle Trail is a regional favorite. San Lee Park also offers picnic areas, paddle boating and kayaking. And for simple, spectacular outdoor getaways, try paddling the 76-mile trek on the Deep River.  Or if lake life suites you, visit the 1,400 acres of Jordan Lake that offer nine recreation areas where boating, camping, swimming, and picnicking are popular.  Bird watching for Bald Eagles also is a favorite!
