(Maysville, Ky. – May 1, 2017) – Meadowview Regional Medical Center (MRMC) announced today that Joe Koch, CPPS, has been named market president of MRMC and Fleming County Hospital (FCH), and chief executive officer (CEO) of MRMC, effective May 22. Koch replaces Ron Tyrer, who is currently serving as interim CEO.

“Joe is such a natural fit for this position,” said Scott Raplee, president of LifePoint’s Central Group, of which the MRMC and FCH are a part, “and we are so excited to introduce him to these communities. He is an exemplary leader with significant experience navigating the Kentucky healthcare landscape, and he is deeply committed to keeping quality care close to home. I know that, under his leadership, the MRMC and FHC market will grow even stronger and further advance our mission of Making Communities Healthier.”

Since 2008, Koch has served as CEO of Bourbon Community Hospital (BCH), another LifePoint facility in Paris, Kentucky. During his time at BCH, he led the hospital to become LifePoint’s fourth hospital to earn designation as a Duke LifePoint National Quality Affiliate. He also drove the expansion of numerous key service lines, enabling Bourbon community members to receive the care they need close to home, and he has consistently led the hospital to achieve patient satisfaction scores in the 75th percentile or above. In 2010, under Koch’s leadership, BCH was named one of LifePoint’s High Five Award winners for excellence in implementing the company’s High Five Guiding Principles, and, that same year, Koch was name LifePoint’s then Continental Division, CEO of the Year.

“From his leadership experience to his demeanor, Joe is everything we are looking for in a leader,” said Suzan Ross, chair of MRMC’s board of trustees. “We are so excited to welcome him to our hospitals and also our communities and are confident that he is the right person to take our market to the next level.”

Prior to serving as CEO of BCH, Koch spent six years as vice president and chief operating officer (COO) of Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley, West Virginia, which he helped transition to LifePoint Health in 2006. Koch also served as executive director and COO of Emory Northlake Regional Medical Center in Tucker, Georgia, and director of administrative services at both Columbia Hospital in Georgetown, Kentucky, and BCH.

“I have had the pleasure of working with individuals at both Meadowview and Fleming for many years,” said Koch, “and I am continuously impressed with the quality of care and compassion they deliver. I look forward to helping these hospitals continue the good work they are doing and explore additional ways we can make our communities healthier.”

Koch earned a bachelor’s of health science and a master’s of health administration from the University of Kentucky. He is a certified professional in patient safety (CPPS), as well as a Development Dimensions International (DDI) certified facilitator. Koch is also a strong proponent of staying active in the community. He currently serves on numerous boards throughout Paris and Bourbon County, including the YMCA, United Way and Kentucky Hospital Association.
