Fremont County, Wyo. – SageWest Health Care announced today that John Ferrelli has been named chief executive officer (CEO) of the two-hospital system. Ferrelli, a 30-year healthcare veteran, will replace retiring CEO Alan Daugherty, effective April 22, 2019.
“We are grateful for the leadership Alan has provided at SageWest since he joined its team in 2017,” said Robert Wampler, president of LifePoint’s Mountain Division, of which SageWest is a part. “He has led important efforts to strengthen the quality of care and grow the services provided at SageWest’s campuses, and we are confident that John will further advance these initiatives. John’s experience leading many types of hospitals in communities throughout the nation uniquely positions him to help SageWest succeed and expand the ways it serves the people of Fremont County.”
Ferrelli’s extensive healthcare management experience includes academic, tertiary-level, safety-net and community medical centers. Most recently, he served as vice president of operations at Vibra Healthcare, LLC, where he was responsible for the management of long-term acute-care hospitals in South Carolina, Virginia, Ohio and Indiana. Before Vibra, Ferrelli held leadership positions at several healthcare organizations across the country. He was CEO at Seton Medical Center and Seton Coastside in Redwood City, California; chief administrative officer (CAO) of the University of Southern California Norris Cancer Hospital in Los Angeles, California; and corporate chief operating officer (COO) of Avanti Hospitals, LLC in El Segundo, California.
“John’s extensive knowledge and leadership experience in managing many types of hospitals will be a tremendous asset to our organization,” said Mike Bailey, chair of the SageWest Board of Trustees. “We are honored to name him CEO, and we look forward to working alongside him in our dedicated effort to making communities healthier.”
Ferrelli earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois, and his Master of Business Administration from Northwestern University’s J. L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management in Evanston, Illinois. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
“Throughout my career, I have sought out opportunities that allow me to be part of a dynamic team committed to delivering the highest quality care possible,” Ferrelli said. “Joining SageWest Health Care provides that opportunity and more. I am eager to get started in this new role, and I look forward to working alongside the Riverton and Lander teams as we strive to provide our communities with great care close to home.”
